the passport
Within Schengen (EU) you can travel with a “carta d'identità” too. The passport is needed for non-EU flights.

the suitcase (luggage)
“Bagaglio da stiva” = checked; “bagaglio a mano” = carry-on. Limit often ~23 kg; over = “eccesso bagaglio” (a fee).

Keep it until boarding. It shows the “gate” and the “posto” (seat). It can be on your phone or printed.

“Partenze” = departures, “imbarco” = boarding, “ritardo” = delay, “gate/uscita” = the gate. Check it often.

Luggage is weighed at check-in. If you exceed the limit, you pay for “eccesso bagaglio”.
