“La piazza” is the heart of the town — a landmark and a social hub. The “fontana” (fountain) in the square is often a meeting point.

the church
Churches are excellent landmarks — they're everywhere and everyone knows them. “Punto di riferimento” = a reference point.

the traffic light
“Al semaforo” (at the traffic light) is a very common direction landmark. “Giri a destra / a sinistra” = turn right / left.
