The Madrid “metro” is among Europe's biggest. “El andén” = the platform; “la línea” has a number and a color (L1, L2...).

the single ticket
“El billete sencillo” = one ride. In Madrid tickets load onto the “Tarjeta Multi” (a reusable card). “El abono” = the pass.
el plano de líneas el PLA-no de LÍ-ne-as

“La línea” = the line; “la dirección” = direction (last station); “el transbordo” = changing lines; “la salida” = the exit (numbered).

the turnstile
On the metro you tap the card at “el torno” (turnstile), which also validates it. Keep your ticket/card until you exit.

Tickets come from “la máquina” (machine, has English) or “la taquilla” (counter). Note: the first Tarjeta Multi costs extra.
