the health card
In the EU you use the EHIC card (in Italy “la tessera sanitaria”). “Il medico di base” is the GP, free through the public system.

the stethoscope
“La visita” = the consultation. “Respiri profondo” = breathe deeply — what the doctor asks with the stethoscope.

the prescription
“La ricetta” (prescription) you take to the pharmacy. “L'impegnativa” = the referral for tests/specialist. Now often “dematerialized” (electronic, you get a code).

the blood tests
Blood tests are done at the “analysis lab”, often on an empty stomach (“a digiuno”). You get “il referto” (the result) after a few days.

The GP has walk-in hours (“orario di ricevimento”) and by appointment. “Il prossimo!” = next!

“Buongiorno! Si accomodi. È Lei delle dieci?” — Good morning! Have a seat. Are you the ten o'clock?
“La tessera ce l'ha?” — Got the card?
“Mi dica, che problema c'è?” — Tell me, what's the problem?
“Respiri... ecco. La pressione va bene.” — Breathe... there. Blood pressure's fine.
