the report (complaint)
“Fare la denuncia” = to file an official report. For theft or lost documents, the report is needed for insurance and to replace your papers.
il portafoglio il por-ta-FÒ-glio
the wallet
“Il furto” = theft; “il borseggio” = pickpocketing; “lo scippo” = bag snatching. In crowds, watch out for “borseggiatori”.

If you lose your passport: file a “loss report” at the police, then go to your embassy/consulate for a new one. Keep a copy separately!

In Italy: the “Polizia di Stato” (113) and the “Carabinieri” (112) both take reports. “Il commissariato” (police) or “la caserma” (Carabinieri).

“Compilare il modulo” = to fill in the form. At the end you get “a copy of the report” — keep it, it's the official proof.
